Job Description

DigiStream Investigations is a fast-growing, national private investigation firm that specializes in worker's compensation surveillance, fraud detection, and other investigative services. Based in Temecula, CA, the company operates primarily throughout San Diego and Riverside County. Known for its professional approach and hands-on training program developed over 25 years, DigiStream aims to deliver quality evidence and detailed surveillance services to support legal claims and investigations. The firm prides itself on offering an exciting, dynamic work environment that breaks away from the traditional desk job. At DigiStream, private investigators enjoy a career filled with adventure, travel, autonomy, and purpose, making it a unique opportunity for individuals interested in investigative work and law enforcement career paths.

The Private Investigator role at DigiStream is a full-time position requiring dedication and flexibility. With an average workload of 40-55 hours per week and shifts typically lasting 10-11 hours a day, the role demands stamina and commitment. Starting pay is $20 per hour, with frequent overtime due to extended travel and work hours. One unique benefit is that commute time in the company vehicle is paid and counted as part of the workday, which contributes to a total annual salary range of $55,000 to $65,000 for full-time employees. Alongside competitive compensation, DigiStream provides full employee benefits, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, and a 401(k) retirement plan with a 4% company match.

This position is designed not just for day-to-day investigative tasks but also for the professional growth and development of employees. Investigators gain valuable experience conducting covert surveillance, crafting detailed reports, and working closely with a team leader to employ effective investigative tactics. The role involves covering diverse activities—from following subjects during everyday errands to filming them at public events—and requires strategic planning to ensure successful evidence gathering.

DigiStream emphasizes career advancement opportunities through its Surveillance Investigator Promotion Track, which allows motivated individuals to grow within the company and expand their investigative capabilities. Employees receive training on advanced techniques and the use of professional-grade equipment such as video cameras, laptops, and tripods, enabling high-quality evidence collection. Moreover, the company provides a late-model surveillance vehicle and covers fuel and maintenance costs, enhancing operational efficiency.

Being part of DigiStream also means joining a supportive work culture with quarterly team-building events and camaraderie among team members. The skills learned in this role can open doors to various career paths, including FBI or law enforcement positions, ATF, US Border Patrol, state crime labs, legal professions, corporate investigations, and investigative journalism. The company encourages individuals with an adventurous spirit, strong drive, and willingness to work flexible hours—including weekends, holidays, and early mornings—to apply.

Candidates must be able to commit to a five-day work week averaging 10 hours per day, with availability across all seven days. Daily tasks require confident driving, the ability to pass background and DMV checks, and the willingness to travel and occasionally stay overnight for remote assignments. This job is ideal for those seeking excitement, meaningful work, and long-term career potential in private investigation and related fields.
