Job Description
DigiStream Investigations is a rapidly expanding national private investigation firm dedicated to providing top-notch investigative services across multiple sectors. With a firm foothold in the greater Chicago region, DigiStream has cultivated a reputation for thoroughness, reliability, and innovation in private investigations. The company employs advanced technology and professional expertise to meet the complex needs of its clients, which range from legal teams to corporate entities. DigiStream is committed to fostering a dynamic working environment that combines autonomy, adventure, and a strong sense of purpose, making it an exceptional employer in the private investigation industry.
The role of a Surveillance Investigator at DigiStream Investigations is far from a typical desk job. It offers an exciting career path for individuals who possess a curious and adventurous spirit and are driven to gather critical evidence to assist clients in defending their legal cases. As a Surveillance Investigator, you will be responsible for conducting covert investigations that involve monitoring and recording subjects' activities in various settings. This position requires a high level of autonomy, as well as the ability to think strategically and adjust to variable situations daily, ensuring the collection of comprehensive and admissible evidence.
This job is designed for someone who thrives on travel and variation in their daily tasks. Each day presents new and unique challenges, requiring the investigator to skilfully plan and execute surveillance operations in a variety of environments, from grocery stores to large events like sports games. Investigators are equipped with company-provided surveillance vehicles, fuel cards, and a complete set of monitoring equipment including video cameras, laptops, and tripods. This ensures seamless operation in the field and the ability to respond flexibly to different investigation scenarios.
Candidates will undergo a thorough professional, hands-on training program developed over 20 years of industry experience that prepares them for success in the field. This role offers substantial growth opportunities within the company through the Surveillance Investigator Promotion Track, enabling ambitious individuals to progress in their careers. Additionally, the role acts as a pathway to various related fields such as law enforcement, corporate investigations, investigative journalism, and legal support.
This position requires travel outside the Chicago area for 10-15 days per month, demanding dedication and flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Investigators work closely with their team leaders, maintaining constant communication to effectively coordinate setup positions, tactics, and report on ongoing surveillance activities. Accuracy in detailed report writing and video evidence submission is critical to the success and integrity of each investigation.
DigiStream Investigations offers competitive compensation for full-time staff, with an annual salary range from $40,000 to $45,000, inclusive of paid commute time. The entry-level hourly pay starts at $18.00 for the initial 90 days. Employees enjoy comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision, life insurance, and a 401(k) retirement plan with up to 4% company match. The company also supports investigators by covering licensure costs and guiding them through the licensing process. This, coupled with a modern fleet of surveillance vehicles and the provision of necessary equipment, underscores DigiStream's commitment to empowering their investigative team.
If you seek a unique and rewarding career that combines fieldwork, autonomy, and the opportunity to help solve important cases, DigiStream Investigations offers a fulfilling and dynamic work environment that supports both personal and professional growth.
