Job Description

DigiStream Investigations is a fast-growing, national private investigation firm dedicated to providing clients with accurate and reliable investigative services. With a strong presence in the greater Chicago region, DigiStream is known for its commitment to delivering high-quality evidence and client satisfaction. The company specializes in covert investigations and offers opportunities for career growth within the investigative, security, and law enforcement fields. The firm takes pride in its professional and hands-on training program developed over more than 20 years, equipping its employees with essential skills and confidence to succeed in various investigative roles.

This full-time Surveillance Investigator role is anything but a traditional desk job. It offers an exciting career filled with autonomy, travel, and purpose. Ideal candidates should possess an adventurous and curious spirit, combined with determination to gather critical evidence to support client cases. The position involves monitoring, following, and videotaping subjects in diverse settings, ranging from routine locations like grocery stores to dynamic environments such as sports games. Investigators are expected to develop and implement pre-surveillance strategies tailored to each case, maintain regular communication with team leaders, and travel extensively, often out of state for 10 to 15 days per month.

DigiStream provides company-issued vehicles, equipment, and resources necessary to perform the job effectively, including a surveillance vehicle with a fuel card, video camera, laptop, and tripod. Employees benefit from paid training, competitive salary ranging from $40,000 to $45,000 annually, compensation for commute time, and comprehensive employee benefits including health, dental, vision, and life insurance, as well as a 401(k) plan with up to 4% company match. This role also offers opportunities for advancement through the company’s Surveillance Investigator Promotion Track and valuable experience that can open doors to careers in FBI, law enforcement, legal fields, security, and investigative journalism.

Candidates must be prepared for variable work hours, starting early in the morning and occasionally extending into evenings, with availability to work weekends and holidays. The position requires confident driving skills and meeting eligibility criteria such as passing a DMV and background check. The company supports license acquisition costs, removing barriers to becoming a licensed private investigator. Overall, the role is designed for motivated individuals who thrive in dynamic, hands-on work environments, enjoy travel, and seek purpose-driven careers within the private investigation industry.
