Job Description

Nectar is a vibrant and inclusive cannabis company based in Portland, Oregon, known for fostering a culture of passion, dedication, and excellence in both products and service. The company takes pride in its diverse team, brought together by a shared commitment to quality and community engagement in the cannabis industry. Nectar has built a reputation for creating a welcoming environment where employee well-being and innovative approaches to health and nutrition are highly valued. This dedication extends beyond cannabis, recognizing the critical role that holistic wellness plays in the lives of their team members and the community they serve.

Now, Nectar is seeking a unique and talented Chef to enhance their workplace experience by preparing fresh, whole, and organic meals as part of an on-site corporate lunch program. This role is tailor-made for a chef who embodies a passion for healthy eating and a genuine enjoyment of crafting nourishing meals. The ideal candidate will have experience working with anti-inflammatory, whole-food diets, emphasizing the avoidance of common irritants like sugar, wheat, and butter while substituting with healthier fats such as avocado and olive oils. This position offers an opportunity to contribute positively to workplace culture by promoting health and wellness through food.

As the corporate chef at Nectar, you will play a pivotal role in curating and preparing meals that support employee health and satisfaction. The position requires working approximately two full days per week, with a flexible schedule commonly set for Mondays and Wednesdays. With all ingredients supplied by the company, the Chef is expected to bring their expertise and personal kitchen tools to create meals strictly from whole-food ingredients with no boxed or processed components. Meals prepared include fresh lunches served on-site as well as additional heat-and-eat options to provide convenient nourishment on days the chef is not present.

Responsibilities encompass meal planning, preparation, and maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen environment. The Chef will also be responsible for portioning healthy snacks, managing ingredient inventory, and collaborating by suggesting new recipes that align with Nectar's health-conscious values. Success in this role requires strong organization, independence, and a proactive approach to ensuring food safety standards are rigorously followed.

Nectar provides competitive pay starting at $25.00 per hour, with the role classified as an independent contractor position. This affords the Chef the flexibility to operate their own business, bring in other clients, maintain personal insurance, and use their own cooking tools. The work location is at 18032 NE Airport Way, Portland, OR, providing a dynamic environment where culinary innovation meets a commitment to health and well-being.

At Nectar, diversity and inclusion are deeply valued and actively celebrated. The company is proud to be an equal opportunity employer, welcoming candidates from all backgrounds to join their team and contribute to a thriving and supportive workplace culture.
