Job Description

Raytheon Technologies is a global aerospace and defense leader, renowned for providing cutting-edge technology solutions that protect our nation and allies while advancing the frontiers of innovation. With over 100 years of experience, Raytheon Technologies focuses on engineering excellence to support mission-critical operations that create a safer, more secure world. The company is committed to delivering affordable, competitive, and innovative solutions that empower customers and strengthen global security. Operating across multiple domains, Raytheon's Digital Technology (DT) organization plays a crucial role in enabling seamless communication, collaboration, and innovation throughout its global network. The DT team creates and maintains highly secure IT infrastructures and technology solutions that ensure the integrity of systems processing classified information for defense programs.

This job opportunity is for a Principal System Administrator position located onsite at the Tewksbury, Massachusetts facility. This is a full-time role within Raytheon's Digital Technology organization, specifically focused on Information Workplace Services supporting classified government programs. The role demands an individual capable of designing, implementing, and maintaining secure and cost-effective IT environments across various classified projects. The successful candidate will provide expert guidance to program teams, helping define system requirements and delivering comprehensive, sustainable infrastructure solutions.

As a Principal System Administrator, you will be responsible for supporting Windows and Linux enterprise environments in a high-stakes, 24x7 operational setting. You will lead efforts on patching, system hardening, vulnerability remediation, and compliance activities encompassing Department of Defense (DoD) security standards such as STIG and SCAP. The position involves hands-on management of virtualized infrastructures via VMware ESXi and vCenter, ensuring optimal performance and reliability of critical production workloads.

Additional responsibilities include automating system deployments using MECM/SCCM and PowerShell scripts, administering core Windows services like Active Directory and Group Policy, and coordinating closely with Cyber Security teams to ensure continuous compliance with regulatory requirements. Working collaboratively with multiple Raytheon technology teams, including DevSecOps, Networking, and Storage, you will resolve complex IT infrastructure challenges, often with minimal supervision.

The role requires a U.S. citizen with an active and transferable DoD Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain an interim clearance before start. Due to the sensitivity of the work, candidates must be willing to work full-time onsite in a secure DoD environment and support occasional after-hours operations and up to 10% travel for program needs.

The salary range for this position spans from $86,800 to $165,200, reflective of experience and qualifications. Raytheon provides an extensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and professional development opportunities, all designed to support a balanced and rewarding career. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to vital defense missions while working with some of the most advanced technology systems in the industry.
