Job Description

RTX, formerly known as Raytheon Technologies, is the world's largest aerospace and defense company with a workforce of approximately 185,000 dedicated professionals. The company is renowned for its deep-rooted commitment to innovation, engineering excellence, and supporting national security. With a rich history spanning over 100 years, RTX serves multiple markets globally through its three core business units and invests heavily in research and development to address some of the most complex challenges in defense and aerospace. The culture at RTX is shaped by core values such as safety, trust, respect, accountability, collaboration, and innovation, which guide the actions and decisions of every employee. Located in Tucson, Arizona, this particular role is an onsite position within the Hardware Design Integrity (HWDI) department, a crucial segment of the Product Integrity center. HWDI is responsible for ensuring the integrity, compliance, security, and efficiency of technical data, designs, and systems, directly contributing to the reliability and timely delivery of defense programs.

The Principal Specialist Design Release Coordinator role at RTX is integral to the hardware design process, focusing on the coordination and management of Technical Data Packages (TDPs) across various programs and projects. The coordinator will be responsible for developing, baselining, and maintaining design release plans using platforms such as Design Release Manager (DRM) or the Rapid Development Tool (RDT). This role demands constant collaboration with cross-functional teams including Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering personnel, and Integrated Product Team Leads (IPTLs) to align drawing release schedules and to ensure that all design data complies with configuration management policies. Daily responsibilities will involve monitoring and reporting on TDP status, guiding document owners on proper documentation submission within Product Data Management systems, and ensuring overall documentation quality and schedule adherence. The position requires a keen attention to detail and strong project management skills to drive successful program deliveries and to present clear, visual data to support program execution and leadership reviews.

The Principal Specialist role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Business Administration, Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM), or related disciplines, along with at least five years of relevant professional experience. A current and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance at the Secret level, or the ability to obtain one prior to employment, is mandatory due to the sensitive nature of the work. Candidates must be U.S. citizens as citizenship is a prerequisite for security clearance eligibility. Preferred qualifications include hardware design experience, understanding of supplier material procurement and manufacturing practices, and proficiency with CAD tools like CREO. Familiarity with software such as PTC Windchill, Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and Power BI is also valued. Strong interpersonal skills are essential to collaborate effectively across engineering disciplines and to maintain high standards of data integrity and compliance.

RTX offers a competitive salary range for this position between $86,800 and $165,200, which reflects the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. Employees benefit from a comprehensive total rewards package that includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability coverage, 401(k) matching, and flexible spending accounts. Work-life benefits include flexible schedules, parental leave (including paternal leave), employee assistance programs, educational assistance, and backup care services for children and adults. The company emphasizes a secure and inclusive hiring process, supports relocation for eligible candidates, and promotes diversity and equal opportunity employment. This role aligns with RTX’s mission to create a safer, more connected world through the dedication and expertise of its workforce.
