Job Requirements
- Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in urban planning, public administration, business administration, or related field
- Five years of increasingly responsible professional experience in planning, development services, or customer service program administration
- Knowledge of municipal planning and permitting processes
- Knowledge of CEQA and relevant federal laws and regulations
- Ability to coordinate across departments and resolve conflicts
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work under multiple deadlines and handle multiple projects
- Skill to interpret, analyze, and apply federal, state, and local laws including City codes
- Physical ability to work in office setting with occasional site visits
- Must be able to work extended hours including evenings and weekends
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in urban planning, engineering, architecture, or related field preferred
- Five years of professional experience in planning, development services, or customer service administration
- Knowledge of municipal planning and permitting processes
- Familiarity with California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and relevant federal laws
- Understanding of city zoning regulations, entitlement processes, and land economics
- Proficiency in project management principles and urban development theories
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to coordinate cross-departmental interactions and resolve conflicts
- Customer service orientation with problem-solving abilities
Job Duties
- Serve as a central point of contact for development applicants, developers, businesses, and the public
- Coordinate and facilitate navigation of city planning, building, and fire code review processes
- Assist applicants through entitlement and permit reviews by liaising with internal departments and external agencies
- Provide high-level concierge customer service by resolving complex development inquiries and conflicts
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to expedite project delivery and reduce timelines
- Manage and coordinate development projects and economic development activities
- Maintain compliance with applicable regulations while supporting business-friendly processes
