Job Requirements

  • Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in urban planning, public administration, business administration, or related field
  • Five years of increasingly responsible professional experience in planning, development services, or customer service program administration
  • Knowledge of municipal planning and permitting processes
  • Knowledge of CEQA and relevant federal laws and regulations
  • Ability to coordinate across departments and resolve conflicts
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work under multiple deadlines and handle multiple projects
  • Skill to interpret, analyze, and apply federal, state, and local laws including City codes
  • Physical ability to work in office setting with occasional site visits
  • Must be able to work extended hours including evenings and weekends

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in urban planning, engineering, architecture, or related field preferred
  • Five years of professional experience in planning, development services, or customer service administration
  • Knowledge of municipal planning and permitting processes
  • Familiarity with California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and relevant federal laws
  • Understanding of city zoning regulations, entitlement processes, and land economics
  • Proficiency in project management principles and urban development theories
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to coordinate cross-departmental interactions and resolve conflicts
  • Customer service orientation with problem-solving abilities

Job Duties

  • Serve as a central point of contact for development applicants, developers, businesses, and the public
  • Coordinate and facilitate navigation of city planning, building, and fire code review processes
  • Assist applicants through entitlement and permit reviews by liaising with internal departments and external agencies
  • Provide high-level concierge customer service by resolving complex development inquiries and conflicts
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to expedite project delivery and reduce timelines
  • Manage and coordinate development projects and economic development activities
  • Maintain compliance with applicable regulations while supporting business-friendly processes
