The role of Principal Computer Systems Analyst is integral within Northrop Grumman's Chief Information and Digital Office (CIDO) Classified Solutions team. This position demands a full-time, on-site presence at the Linthicum, Maryland facility to support classified government contracts by performing comprehensive information system lifecycle activities. The Principal Computer Systems Analyst will provide technical expertise in system administration, configuration, and support across multiple secure networks. Responsibilities include managing Windows domains, maintaining system operations, ensuring compliance with strict security protocols such as NISPOM, DCID 6/3-ICD 503, RMF, and STIG, and coordinating among various technical teams including system engineers, networking specialists, and project managers.

Key duties involve installing, upgrading, patching, monitoring, and troubleshooting multi-user computer systems, maintaining detailed system documentation, supporting backup and recovery processes, and adhering strictly to information security guidelines. The analyst will be responsible for responding to and resolving technical issues through collaboration, utilizing ticketing systems like ServiceNow or JIRA, and escalating complex problems as needed. Applicants must have a U.S. Government Secret clearance and meet the program requirements for Computer Systems Analyst – Security+. Job Requirements

  • Associate's degree with 7 years of experience, or Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience, or Master's degree with 3 years of experience
  • High School diploma/equivalent with 9 years of experience may be considered
  • experience with Windows domains including Active Directory, GPOs, policies, and permissions
  • current U.S. Government Secret security clearance with closed investigation within last 6 years or enrollment in CE program
  • must meet U.S. Government 8140 requirements for Computer Systems Analyst – Security+
  • ability to work on site full-time at Linthicum, MD
  • willingness to travel 10% of the time
  • ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds
  • flexible to work after hours and weekends as needed

Job Qualifications

  • Associate's degree with 7 years of experience, or a Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience, or a Master's degree with 3 years of experience
  • a High School diploma/equivalent with 9 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a completed degree
  • experience with Windows domains, including but not limited to Active Directory, GPOs, Policies, and permissions
  • current U.S. Government Secret security clearance (minimum), including a closed investigation date completed within the last 6 years or enrollment in the Continuous Evaluation (CE) Program
  • candidates must meet U.S. Government 8140 requirements for a Computer Systems Analyst – Security+
  • preferred: Windows Server Administration experience including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, LDAP, and other services
  • experience operating under and managing systems within NISPOM Chapter 8, DCID 6/3-ICD 503, RMF, STIG, JAFAN, or JSIG environments
  • knowledge of networking including subnets, routing, VLANs, and VTCs
  • experience with creating, maintaining, and deploying system images in LAN to enterprise environments
  • current virtualization experience
  • knowledge of backup solutions and SAN storage systems
  • experience with environmental monitoring tools such as HBSS, Solar Winds, Splunk
  • experience in scripting
  • operating system cross-platform awareness (two or more such as Windows, Linux, Solaris, OSX, UNIX)
  • experience with Assessment & Authorization processes

Job Duties

  • Perform as a principal computer systems analyst in support of classified government contracts
  • exhibit good communication skills, an energetic approach, and patience with customers
  • establish and maintain customer satisfaction according to defined objectives while adhering to established policies
  • report task statuses as required for all recurring and non-recurring efforts in written and verbal format
  • support multiple networks, ensuring necessary Windows administration tasks are completed while coordinating with others as necessary and working under minimal direction
  • maintain operations of multi-user computer systems working with system engineers, PC desktop technicians, networking engineers, project managers, end users, and IT/cyber management
  • assist with review of internal customer requirements, making recommendations for hardware, software, and system component purchases
  • maintain and provide reliability of systems through installation, upgrading/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management
  • ensure system compliance via Group Policy or other technologies
  • provide and maintain backup and recovery services, manage file systems and disk space, and manage virus protection on a routine basis
  • test new releases of products to ensure compatibility and minimize user impact
  • develop and maintain technical documentation of system processes and procedures
  • adhere to strict Information Systems security guidelines in all cases, supporting Computer Security with inputs to documentation, as required
  • maintain security audit and logging information on all classified networked and standalone computers as directed by the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM)
  • work across disciplines to isolate issues between software, firmware, and hardware, between software and operating systems, between networks and applications, and between one-time events and recurrent systematic problems
  • support environments by means of ticketing requirements systems (ServiceNow, JIRA, etc.)
  • raise issues that require senior level attention or involvement
  • lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • work after hours and on weekends, as needed
