Job Description
ChenMed is a physician-led, mission-driven primary care organization that stands out as one of the most successful full-risk Medicare Advantage providers in the United States. With a vision to become America’s leading primary care provider, ChenMed is dedicated to transforming healthcare for the nation’s neediest senior population. Their core mission is to honor seniors by delivering affordable VIP care that leads to better health outcomes. As a family-owned company that is rapidly expanding, ChenMed is focused on changing lives every day—not only for the patients they serve but also for the team members they employ. They foster a culture built on love, accountability, and passion, aiming to provide both personal and professional fulfillment to their healthcare providers.
ChenMed differs from traditional primary care providers by emphasizing value-based, outcomes-focused medical care. They operate with a strong entrepreneurial spirit and an innovative approach that nurtures leadership and ownership at every level of the organization. This makes ChenMed an exceptional workplace for primary care physicians who are compassionate, driven, and eager to make a meaningful difference. Physicians at ChenMed manage a manageable patient panel of up to 450 patients, allowing for a personal and deep trusting relationship between provider and patient. Rather than acting as mere consultants for acute illness, ChenMed primary care physicians serve as health coaches who help patients set and achieve both short-term and long-term health goals, with a focus on behavior change, health promotion, and disease prevention.
This role involves accountability for patient outcomes, clinical quality, and cost-effectiveness. Metrics such as hospital admissions, appointment utilization, patient experience scores (CGCAHPS), and clinical gap closures are regularly measured, with physicians expected to engage collaboratively with care teams and leadership to meet these goals. Working in a collaborative environment, the primary care physician partners with care promoters, care facilitators, coordinators, and advanced practice practitioners (APPs) to deliver outstanding care in various settings including office visits, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and patients’ homes.
Key responsibilities include full clinical care accountability, integrating evidence-based medicine with lifestyle and nutritional interventions, managing both acute and complex chronic illnesses, and engaging in hospital and transitional care. The position also requires physician leadership, mentorship, and an active role in center management, including coverage for other providers and participation in recruiting patients and providers. Physicians are expected to uphold strict compliance with clinical guidelines, quality metrics, and regulatory standards while fostering a positive and vibrant workplace culture.
ChenMed offers a competitive salary range from $221,141 to $315,915 annually, with final compensation dependent on factors such as experience, education, and geographic location. The position may also be eligible for bonuses or commissions. In addition, ChenMed promotes physician wellness and self-care, understanding that provider well-being is fundamental to sustainable, high-quality patient care. Comprehensive employee benefits, career development opportunities, and a supportive work-life balance make ChenMed a leader in primary care employment opportunities.
In summary, joining ChenMed means becoming part of an innovative, mission-oriented healthcare organization that is passionately transforming senior healthcare across America. It offers an environment where physicians can practice high-quality medicine, engage deeply with patients, lead multidisciplinary teams, and grow professionally within a supportive, value-based framework. This is a unique opportunity for primary care physicians committed to improving senior health outcomes while advancing their own careers in a dynamic, inclusive, and rewarding organization.
