Job Description
MUSC Community Physicians (MCP) is part of the Medical University of South Carolina, South Carolina's leading academic health system known for its commitment to clinical excellence, innovation, and physician success. MUSC Health serves patients statewide through a network of hospitals, clinics, and specialty services, integrating academic medicine, research, and education with patient care. This well-established institution offers physicians opportunities in both academic and community settings, providing the resources and infrastructure to support long-term, meaningful medical careers.
The role being offered is for a full-time BC/BE Family Medicine or Internal Medicine Physician to join MUSC’s MDVIP Concierge Medicine services in a new office located in Bluffton, South Carolina. This position allows you to focus on delivering highly personalized, comprehensive medical care tailored to each patient’s individual needs. The physician will work closely with patients to promote wellness, improved quality of life, and coordinate specialty care services, focusing on the holistic well-being of each patient rather than a traditional high-volume primary care model.
As part of the MDVIP concierge model, the physician benefits from a smaller patient panel, enabling deeper patient relationships and more personalized care. MUSC MDVIP is known for premier concierge medicine services currently in Charleston and Johns Island. This model emphasizes preventive medical care, offering patients same-day or next-day appointments, customized wellness plans, and coordinated specialty referrals, which ensures each patient receives timely and effective care.
In this role, the physician will also enjoy full administrative support, including a practice manager, care coordinator, clinical associates, and front office staff. This comprehensive team support allows the physician more time to concentrate on patient care instead of administrative tasks. Additionally, physicians have access to a multidisciplinary team of professionals, advanced technologies, and direct support from MUSC’s clinical centers of excellence, facilitating enhanced and optimized care delivery.
The working schedule is Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and Friday from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm, providing a balanced workweek. MUSC provides dedicated marketing for the MDVIP practice to help build and maintain the patient panel, ensuring sustainable growth of the concierge practice.
Bluffton, SC, the location of this new practice, is situated in the heart of the Low Country, between Hilton Head and Savannah. Known as one of "the last true coastal villages of the South," Bluffton offers residents a close-knit community, historic homes, artisan shops, and scenic waterways along the May River. Physicians choosing to work here will experience a vibrant southern lifestyle and a supportive community environment.
Benefits include competitive compensation and benefits, employer-funded retirement plans, paid occurrence malpractice coverage, paid parental leave, CME allowance with paid time off, eligibility for Public Service Loan Forgiveness, one-on-one student debt management support, and access to an Epic EHR system equipped with AI-enabled documentation tools to reduce administrative burden. This ensures physicians are well-supported both professionally and personally in their roles.
The Medical University of South Carolina is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
