The role of Preventive Maintenance Technician at Hiab is a full-time position based primarily in Tampa, FL, with job duties conducted in Hialeah, FL, and the surrounding areas. This role focuses on preventive maintenance service, inspections, safety checks, and minor corrective actions on a variety of equipment including forklifts, knuckle boom cranes, loaders, liftgates, hooklifts, skiploaders, and hoists. The Technician will perform detailed inspections, report findings, initiate service or repair quotes, and follow through with maintenance or minor repair work. This position entails working in close coordination with the District Service Manager, ensuring all services adhere to company safety standards and technical best practices.

The Preventive Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining accurate records and documentation throughout their activities, staying current with technical developments and service bulletins, and pursuing technical training as assigned. Most importantly, the Technician will represent the Hiab brand positively in all interactions and demonstrate adherence to the company’s quality system. The role requires 100% travel, ensuring that maintenance services are conducted at off-site locations to support customers directly.

This position requires mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical experience, combined with strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills. A valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a 1-year Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Card are mandatory. Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and no more than one moving violation in the past year (or two in the last two years) to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.

Salary for the role ranges from $27.00 to $27.50 per hour, dependent on skills and experience. Job Duties

  • Inspect, report findings, initiate quote based on findings, and conduct service or repair on equipment such as forklifts, knuckle boom cranes, loaders, liftgates, hooklifts, skiploaders, and hoists as instructed by District Service Manager
  • keep adequate records and maintain documentation in line with agreed standards
  • stay up to date with technical developments shown in internal service bulletins and follow technical courses when instructed
  • follow applicable safety rules, working practices, and environmental requirements
  • conduct self in a way that promotes a positive image of the Hiab brand and follow rules of the Quality System
  • recognize sales opportunities and communicate to District Service Manager
