The academy emphasizes spiritual growth alongside academic development, aiming to nurture the whole child in a safe, loving, and enriching atmosphere. As a respected provider of early childhood education, Lionheart Children's Academy upholds strong values of equality and non-discrimination, ensuring that employment and educational opportunities are accessible to all regardless of race, color, national origin, age, disability, sex, or any other protected characteristic. The academy strictly adheres to regulations such as the Americans with Disabilities Act, providing necessary accommodations to qualified individuals to foster an inclusive environment. They maintain a commitment to ethical employment practices by not requesting salary histories and protecting applicants' rights in compensation discussions. The workplace is drug-free, promoting health and safety for all staff and students.
The position of Kitchen Manager/Cook at Lionheart Children's Academy is pivotal to the overall success of the nutrition and food service programs within the school. This role is responsible for overseeing the nutrition program's daily operations, ensuring that meals and snacks meet both federal and state standards for quality and cleanliness. The Kitchen Manager/Cook coordinates directly with classroom teachers and the program administrator, offering assistance and guidance for food-related educational activities in the classroom, fostering a holistic learning experience for the children. This role requires meticulous planning and execution of food service activities, including purchasing, meal preparation, and service, within budgetary constraints and nutritional guidelines. Maintaining compliance with the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) standards is a key part of the job, which involves adhering to meal pattern regulations, portion control, and comprehensive recordkeeping.
Further responsibilities include ensuring the kitchen environment is hygienic and safe, with all equipment properly sanitized and stored, supporting the custodial upkeep necessary for a healthy facility. The Kitchen Manager/Cook also monitors food supplies inventory, planning meals economically while prioritizing balanced and nutritious options for the children. Beyond kitchen duties, the role includes participation in academy-wide tasks like simple laundry and engaging in continuous professional development to improve understanding of child development and nutrition. The candidate is expected to uphold all staff handbook requirements and participate actively in staff meetings, training, and special academy events. A current First-Aid and CPR certification is required and must be maintained throughout employment.
Candidates for this role must demonstrate spiritual maturity and a commitment to the Christ-centered mission of Lionheart Children's Academy. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, alongside personal attributes such as warmth, friendliness, and a neat appearance, are essential. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a passion for reaching children and parents with Christ’s message. Willingness to engage in spiritual conversations and continue studies in child development or nutrition is encouraged, supporting the academy’s mission to integrate faith with education. This full-time role offers a meaningful opportunity to contribute to a faith-based educational environment while ensuring the highest standards in nutrition and food service management.
