As a Food Service Manager (Chef) at Silverline Montessori, you will assume a critical leadership role by overseeing all aspects of the school kitchen operations. This full-time position, with an hourly pay range of USD $16.00 to $18.00, involves managing kitchen safety, cleanliness, and compliance with health regulations. Your primary responsibility will be to prepare healthy, nutritious meals and snacks that meet the dietary needs of the children, helping to foster their well-being and development. You will be tasked with creating menus, ordering food and supplies, preparing meals, and ensuring timely delivery to various locations within the school. Additionally, you will monitor inventory levels and scheduling orders to avoid stock shortages, while maintaining the utmost level of sanitation and food safety. You will also oversee kitchen organization, including refrigerators, freezers, food containers, and preparation areas, ensuring a clean and orderly facility at all times. The role demands a strong commitment to workplace safety, hygiene standards, and a passion for working in a child-focused educational environment. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • certificate, associate, or bachelor's degree in food service, culinary arts, or related field preferable
  • minimum of 2 years cooking experience
  • experience working in a large institution preferable
  • passion for working with children

Job Duties

  • Create menus, order food, prepare meals and deliver meals to other locations
  • order products on a regular schedule to eliminate out of stock items such as food, paper goods, cleaning supplies and snacks, as well as process inventory of all kitchen items
  • ensure the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including all food preparation areas, food containers, refrigerators, and freezers
  • maintain the highest level of sanitation and be responsible for the inspection with the health department
  • perform other duties as assigned
