The role of Prep & Pantry Cook at Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers is essential to the kitchen’s smooth operation and overall success. This position involves preparing ingredients, organizing the pantry, and assisting with general kitchen duties to support the culinary team. The Prep & Pantry Cook is responsible for accurately measuring ingredients, cutting and chopping vegetables, marinating meats, and following established recipes and portion guidelines. Additionally, this role requires maintaining an organized pantry by inspecting deliveries, rotating stock, and ensuring proper storage of ingredients.

Working closely with chefs and line cooks, the Prep & Pantry Cook helps set up necessary equipment and utensils to ensure readiness before service. Maintaining cleanliness and adhering to strict food safety and sanitation standards is paramount in this role, including regular cleaning and sanitizing of workstations and tools. Inventory management support is another critical aspect, requiring assistance in tracking stock levels and reporting shortages promptly.

Successful candidates must display flexibility and teamwork, adapting to assist with various kitchen duties during busy periods or when staff members are unavailable. The role demands physical stamina to stand for extended hours, lift heavy items, and work in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least eighteen years old
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Prior experience working in a fast-paced kitchen environment preferably in a prep or pantry role
  • Strong food safety knowledge and familiarity with sanitation protocols
  • Valid Food Handlers Certification
  • Ability to follow recipes and work independently
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
  • Ability to stand for long hours and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Willingness to work late nights and unpredictable hours
  • Positive team-oriented attitude

Job Qualifications

  • Must be at least eighteen years old

  • Must have valid Food Handlers Certification
  • Ability to learn cash register software used by bar or restaurant POS such as Aloha, Hot Schedule, Paylocity

Job Duties

  • Assist in the preparation of food items by accurately measuring and weighing ingredients, cutting and chopping vegetables, marinating meats, and following recipes and portion guidelines
  • Maintain an organized and well-stocked pantry by receiving and inspecting deliveries, rotating stock, properly storing ingredients, and notifying appropriate personnel when supplies need replenishing
  • Ensure all necessary equipment, utensils, and supplies are set up and ready for use by line cooks and chefs
  • Adhere to highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene by regularly cleaning and sanitizing workstations, equipment, and utensils
  • Assist in monitoring inventory levels and report shortages to Head Chef or Kitchen Manager
  • Work closely with kitchen team to ensure smooth operations and efficient communication
  • Maintain keen eye for detail and consistently deliver high-quality food by following standard recipes, portion control, and plating guidelines
  • Comply with all health and safety regulations, company policies, and procedures including proper food handling, storage, and labeling
  • Be flexible and willing to assist in various kitchen duties as assigned, including assisting with line cooking during busy periods or filling in for absent staff members
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
