The role of Food Prep Cook at T S Restaurant is integral to the seamless operation of the kitchen and overall guest satisfaction. This position requires individuals who are diligent, detail-oriented, and capable of maintaining high standards of food safety and sanitation. As a Food Prep Cook, you will be responsible for preparing food items that assist line cooks during busy service hours, ensuring that all dishes meet T S Restaurant’s exacting recipe standards and quality expectations. Your duties include pre-weighing, measuring, cutting, and packaging food items, as well as preparing doughs, batters, sauces, and other mixtures following detailed recipes. Maintaining a clean and organized work area is a critical component of this role, which includes sweeping, mopping, sanitizing prep surfaces, handling trash disposal, and adhering strictly to all food safety protocols, including allergy management.

Job Requirements

  • No experience required although preferred
  • Knife set to be acquired within 30 days of hire
  • Must take and pass all training tests with 90 percent or higher
  • Must be dependable and punctual
  • Ability to stand constantly, walk constantly, use hands and fingers constantly, lift and carry 11-25 lbs constantly, reach outward constantly
  • Ability to lift and carry 26-50 lbs frequently, push/pull 10-25 lbs constantly, push/pull 26-50 lbs frequently, bend frequently, squat or kneel occasionally, climb occasionally
  • Ability to hear verbal requests, see near, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception
  • Ability to smell, taste, and touch
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment including non-slip shoes, back belt for lifting over 20 lbs, and safety gloves when using knives

Job Duties

  • Cut foods as specified by recipe
  • Read and understand recipes and POS generated tickets
  • Pre-weigh, measure, and package foods according to recipe specifications for later use by line cooks
  • Prepare doughs, batters, sauces, and mixes according to recipes for later cooking
  • Bake or cook certain food items according to recipes for later use by line cooks
  • Follow T S protocol for all noted guest allergies
  • Remove floor mats, sweep, scrub, and mop floors
  • wash mats and replace on cleaned floor
  • Sanitize prep area and line trash cans
  • Take out trash and reline cans as needed throughout shift
  • Assist others as needed
  • Must be dependable, report to work as scheduled and on time, and follow all policies regarding scheduling and attendance
  • Work in a safe manner and report any safety concerns
  • Follow food safety program guidelines of handwashing, bare hands, hygiene, and health
