Job Description

Prep/Dish is a nationally recognized kabob restaurant located in Glendale, California, known for its high-volume, fast-paced kitchen environment, and acclaimed culinary reputation. The establishment has received notable accolades including being listed in the LA Times Top 101, New York Times Top 50, and the Michelin Guide, solidifying its position as one of the elite dining destinations in Los Angeles. Operating out of a compact 299 square foot kitchen, the restaurant is known for its disciplined, efficient, and ego-free work culture, focusing entirely on delivering quality food with speed and precision. The kitchen team is essential to maintaining this standard, working seamlessly behind the scenes to support the culinary operations without the distractions of drama or delays. The atmosphere is challenging, with high heat and fast-moving tasks, requiring employees to stay alert, organized, and proactive in their work habits.

The role being offered is for Prep/Dish positions, with two openings available. These positions are integral to the kitchen staff, primarily managing the preparation of vegetables, sauces, proteins, and setting up stations, alongside dishwashing duties and maintaining cleanliness throughout the shift. It is a physically demanding role that requires the candidate to handle a busy and hot kitchen environment effectively. The pay structure is competitive within the industry, starting at a base wage of $16.50 per hour. There is a guaranteed total pay ranging from $20 to $24 per hour, inclusive of a 100% back of house tip pool, which ensures that all tips go directly to the kitchen staff. Higher pay tiers are available for those who show initiative by moving quickly, anticipating the needs of the kitchen, and working independently to reduce the workload on chefs and line staff.

This opportunity offers a stable, long-term position with a consistent morning schedule. For Prep/Dish #1, the workdays are Thursday through Sunday, with shifts running from 6:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Prep/Dish #2 covers Monday through Wednesday, working from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, and may include additional shifts during high-volume service periods. The restaurant prides itself on fostering a respectful and focused kitchen culture that values reliability, cleanliness, positive attitudes, and teamwork. Employees are expected to be detail-oriented, capable of maintaining a fast pace, and able to work independently without constant supervision. There is significant room for growth within the team, emphasizing a supportive environment that encourages professional development and long-term employment.

Joining this team means becoming part of one of the most recognized restaurants in Los Angeles, with guaranteed stable pay, all back-of-house tips retained among the kitchen staff, and a clear pathway toward career advancement. It is an ideal position for hardworking individuals seeking a steady job in an elite, high-energy culinary setting where respect and efficiency are paramount. The restaurant seeks serious applicants only who demonstrate reliability, a strong work ethic, and a positive demeanor to uphold the high standards expected from this distinguished establishment.
