The position available focuses on performing essential functions related to the preparation, counter service, sanitation, and stocking of products within Whole Foods Market’s Prepared Foods venues. The role entails ensuring that all prepared foods meet the store’s high-quality guidelines and are properly labeled, dated, covered, and rotated to maintain peak freshness and safety. The team member is expected to follow all established Standard Operating Procedures to maintain health and safety compliance, including adherence to food safety regulations. This position is an entry-level opportunity that requires dedication to excellent customer service, teamwork, and a commitment to Whole Foods Market’s core values and goals. The wage range for this role is between $19.00 and $25.40 per hour, commensurate with experience.

Team members in this role will assist in product production using correct measuring devices and standard recipes, document waste and spoilage, and contribute to maintaining a clean and organized work environment, including walk-ins and freezers. The role demands strong communication skills to interact effectively with customers, vendors, and fellow team members, with an emphasis on educating customers about Whole Foods Market products versus conventional grocery store options. Additionally, team members will engage in suggestive selling techniques and provide timely responses to customer needs while ensuring the store maintains a positive image through courteous, friendly, and efficient service at all times. The schedule may include nights, weekends, and holidays with a flexible approach to work hours. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Ability to use tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • Ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • Must stand/walk for 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day
  • Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • Work requires bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching motions
  • Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • Exposure to temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • May require use of ladders

Job Qualifications

  • No prior retail experience required
  • Thorough product knowledge
  • Ability to make an adequate number of recipes per shift based on batch size
  • Capable of accessing information about market conditions and communicating it to customers
  • Understand spoilage and supply waste and how it affects department profits
  • Working knowledge and application of all merchandising expectations within the department
  • Strong to excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team
  • Ability to deliver information in a clear and respectable manner to fellow Team Members, customers, and vendors
  • Ability to meet customer service expectations and standards in all interactions with customers, vendors, and Team Members
  • Ability to follow directions and procedures

Job Duties

  • Assist with production for all Prepared Foods venues
  • Ensure all prepared foods are properly labeled, dated, initialed, covered, and rotated
  • Ensure product meets WFM guidelines for quality and preparation
  • Document waste and spoilage using appropriate forms
  • Ensure product production is performed using correct measuring devices and all recipes are followed
  • Help customers understand the difference between WFM products and products at conventional stores
  • Ensure that walk-ins and freezers are kept clean and well-organized
  • Arrive to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
  • Provide excellent customer service, address needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and model suggestive selling techniques
  • Answer phones and pages promptly and courteously
