Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand or walk for 6 to 8 hours during an 8-hour workday
  • Manual dexterity for grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling
  • Ability to perform bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching motions
  • Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals
  • Ability to work in temperatures below 32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), between 32 and 40 degrees (refrigerators), and above 90 degrees
  • Ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • Flexible schedule availability including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to safely use tools and equipment such as knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and heavy machinery
  • May require use of ladders

  • No prior retail experience required
  • Thorough product knowledge
  • Ability to make recipes per shift based on batch size
  • Capable of accessing and communicating market condition information to customers
  • Understand spoilage and supply waste impact on department profits
  • Knowledge and application of merchandising expectations

  • Ability to deliver information clearly and respectfully

Job Duties

  • Assist with production for all prepared foods venues
  • Ensure all prepared foods are properly labeled, dated, initialed, covered, and rotated
  • Ensure product meets Whole Foods Market guidelines for quality and preparation
  • Document waste and spoilage using appropriate forms
  • Ensure product production is performed using correct measuring devices and all recipes are followed
  • Help customers understand the difference between Whole Foods Market products and products at conventional stores
  • Ensure walk-ins and freezers are kept clean and well-organized
  • Arrive to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
  • Provide excellent customer service and address needs of customers promptly and effectively
  • Model suggestive selling techniques
  • Answer phones and pages promptly and courteously
