Job Description
Metropolitan Market, LLC is a premium grocery store chain renowned for its commitment to high-quality products, exceptional customer service, and a vibrant marketplace experience. With locations such as the one in Proctor (Tacoma), this establishment focuses on offering a carefully curated selection of fresh, nourishing, and ready-to-eat food options. The company places a high value on creating an inviting, clean, and well-organized environment that enhances the shopping experience for its diverse clientele. Metropolitan Market is recognized for fostering a culture of inclusivity, respect, and opportunity, striving to maintain equal employment practices and develop team members through supportive benefits and career advancement opportunities.
The role offered within the Prepared Foods Department at Metropolitan Market involves being an enthusiastic and knowledgeable team member who interacts directly with customers to fulfill their orders promptly and provide exceptional personalized service. This department is dedicated to offering freshly prepared meals that engage customers not only through taste but also through the presentation and variety of food available in the self-serve areas. Working in this fast-paced but rewarding environment means balancing routine maintenance duties such as restocking, cleaning, and food display upkeep with immediate guest needs and inquiries. The ideal candidate is outgoing, friendly, and able to connect with customers by sharing detailed product knowledge including ingredients and culinary insights, thereby enhancing the overall food shopping experience.
Team members in this position take pride in maintaining product inventory levels and assisting leadership with ordering supplies to ensure the availability and quality of the offerings. This role is not only about stocking shelves but also about contributing to an exciting marketplace by developing visually appealing product displays and actively participating in product promotions and community events. Maintaining cleanliness and organization in back-of-house areas like walk-in coolers and freezers is essential for both safety and operational efficiency.
Metropolitan Market offers a competitive hourly wage range of $21.90 to $27.15 for this role, complemented by a generous 20% team member discount and access to excellent health benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance at very low cost. The company also provides health savings accounts, flexible spending arrangements, company-funded disability and life insurance, and other support programs such as an Employee Assistance Program and retirement plans. Paid time off, sick leave, and educational support programs contribute to making this a well-rounded employment opportunity. Candidates should be prepared to undergo background and reference checks and must possess a valid Washington State Food Workers Card to comply with health regulations.
In summary, this position is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about food service, customer interaction, and contributing to a team-oriented environment in a respected retail setting. The role offers ongoing learning about food products, opportunities for career development, and the chance to be part of a company committed to delivering fresh, high-quality meals while supporting its employees with competitive pay and comprehensive benefits.
