This position is a vital role as part of the Prepared Foods team at Whole Foods Market. The role involves preparing, serving, and maintaining a variety of hot and cold foods such as meats, cheeses, sandwiches, salads, burritos, wraps, and pizzas. Employees in this role are essential to ensuring a superior customer experience through efficient service and a welcoming attitude. Responsibilities include counter service, sanitation, product stocking, and adhering to stringent health and safety regulations. Team Members are expected to be versatile, willing to assist across different duties, and uphold the company’s core values and standards. Leadership supports frontline engagement, ensuring that Team Leaders spend meaningful time interacting with customers and assisting teammates.

Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Standing/walking 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day
  • Hand use including single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • Ability to bend, twist, squat, and reach
  • Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • Exposure to temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • May require use of ladders

Job Duties

  • Cut, prepare, and serve a variety of hot and cold foods including meats, cheeses, sandwiches, burritos, wraps, salad, and pizza
  • Sample products to customers
  • Stock hot and cold cases and displays with prepared foods from kitchen, walk-in preparation, and refrigerators
  • Check in-stock product dates to ensure freshness and rotate when necessary
  • Bail and consolidate recyclables
  • Assist Team Leader in organizing and displaying volume and seasonal items
  • Complete spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets as required
  • Assist with periodic inventory checks
  • Arrive to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
  • Provide excellent customer service, address needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and model suggestive selling techniques
  • Maximize sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
  • Follow and comply, or ensure compliance, with established procedures including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
  • Maintain, or ensure maintenance of, a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
  • Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
  • Ensure accuracy of signs and pricing
  • Immediately report safety hazards and violations
