The role offered is for a member of the Prepared Foods team at Whole Foods Market, an essential position responsible for supporting daily operations related to food preparation, customer service, sanitation, and product stocking within the store’s prepared foods department. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining the freshness, quality, and presentation of a wide variety of hot and cold foods such as meats, cheeses, sandwiches, wraps, burritos, salads, and pizzas. Job Requirements
- No prior retail experience required
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to stand or walk for 6-8 hours during an 8-hour workday
- Proficiency in hand use including single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling
- Capability to perform motions such as bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching
- Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
- Comfortable working in temperatures below freezing, refrigerated conditions, and warm environments above 90 degrees Fahrenheit
- Ability to work in wet and dry conditions
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
- May require use of ladders

Job Duties
- Cut, prepare, and serve a variety of hot and cold foods including meats, cheeses, sandwiches, burritos, wraps, salad, and pizza
- Sample products to customers
- Stock hot and cold cases and displays with prepared foods from kitchen, walk-in preparation, and refrigerators
- Check in-stock product dates to ensure freshness and rotate when necessary
- Bail and consolidate recyclables
- Assist Team Leader in organizing and displaying volume and seasonal items
- Complete spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets as required
- Assist with periodic inventory checks
- Arrive to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
- Provide excellent customer service, address needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and model suggestive selling techniques
- Maximize sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
- Follow and comply with established procedures including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
- Maintain a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
- Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned ensuring accuracy of signs and pricing
- Immediately report safety hazards and violations
