The role is part of the Prepared Foods team, focused on food preparation, counter service, stocking, sanitation, and customer interaction. It involves supporting the team to ensure that all products, from hot and cold foods like meats, cheeses, sandwiches, burritos, salads, and pizzas, are prepared and served with high quality and freshness. Team members also engage in tasks such as stocking displays, rotating stock, checking product dates, maintaining cleanliness, and following health and safety regulations. Additionally, employees are expected to actively assist in promoting Whole Foods Market’s core values, uphold national and regional program initiatives, and provide excellent customer service. This role requires teamwork, communication skills, and a passion for natural foods while working in a fast-paced environment. Team leaders in this position are also expected to lead by example on the floor, engaging directly with customers and helping their colleagues whenever needed. New team members receive training and, after successfully completing an initial 90-day period, may be eligible for a wage increase. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Standing or walking 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday
  • Hand use involving single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • Ability to perform bending, twisting, squatting and reaching motions
  • Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • Exposure to temperatures below 32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), and above 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • May require use of ladders

Job Duties

  • Cuts, prepares, and serves a variety of hot and cold foods including meats, cheeses, sandwiches, burritos, wraps, salads, and pizza
  • Samples products to customers
  • Stocks hot and cold cases and displays with prepared foods from kitchen, walk-in preparation, and refrigerators
  • Checks in-stock product dates to ensure freshness and rotates when necessary
  • Bails and consolidates recyclables
  • Assists Team Leader in organizing and displaying volume and seasonal items
  • Completes spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets as required
  • Assists with periodic inventory checks
  • Arrives to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
  • Provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and models suggestive selling techniques
  • Maximizes sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
  • Follows and complies with established procedures including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
  • Performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
  • Immediately reports safety hazards and violations
