This role is part of the Prepared Foods team at Whole Foods Market, focusing on delivering a superior customer experience through preparation, service, sanitation, and stocking of products. As a team member in this position, you will be responsible for preparing and serving a variety of hot and cold foods such as meats, cheeses, sandwiches, burritos, wraps, salads, and pizza. The role requires close interaction with customers, offering product samples and providing knowledgeable advice to meet their needs while promoting sales. You will also maintain high standards of sanitation and safety in the work environment, ensuring all food is fresh and correctly stocked.

Team members must follow store and team Standard Operating Procedures meticulously, participate in store programs and initiatives, and embrace Whole Foods Market's core values and goals. The role involves engaging with customers on the floor, supporting other team members, and assisting team leaders with organizing and displaying seasonal and high-volume items. Other important responsibilities include performing inventory checks, maintaining equipment, completing necessary documentation related to spoilage and sampling, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

This position demands a keen attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively under a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. Physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds, standing and walking for extended periods, and the use of various tools and machinery like knives and electric pallet jacks are integral to the job. Flexibility in working hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, is required to meet the business demands.

Whole Foods Market offers this role on an hourly basis, with a pay range of $17.50 to $25.40, depending on experience. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • ability to stand and walk 6-8 hours during an 8-hour work day

Job Duties

  • Cuts, prepares, and serves a variety of hot and cold foods including meats, cheeses, sandwiches, burritos, wraps, salad, and pizza
  • samples products to customers
  • stocks hot and cold cases and displays with prepared foods
  • checks in-stock product dates to ensure freshness and rotates stock when necessary
  • bails and consolidates recyclables
  • assists Team Leader in organizing and displaying volume and seasonal items
  • completes spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets
  • assists with periodic inventory checks
  • provides excellent customer service and addresses customer needs promptly
  • maximizes sales potential through effective prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising
  • follows established procedures regarding health and safety regulations
  • maintains clean and sanitary working environment
  • performs opening, mid, and closing duties and ensures accuracy of signs and pricing
  • immediately reports safety hazards and violations
