This role is for a team member in the Prepared Foods department, offering hands-on experience with food preparation, counter service, sanitation, and stocking within a fast-paced retail environment. Team members contribute to the store’s reputation by consistently delivering courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service. The responsibilities of this position include cutting, preparing, and serving a diverse range of hot and cold foods such as meats, cheeses, sandwiches, wraps, salads, and pizzas. Team members are expected to sample products to customers, assist in stocking and rotating display cases to maintain freshness, and ensure compliance with inventory and sanitation standards. They also engage with customers by providing knowledgeable service, suggestive selling, and addressing any needs promptly while maintaining a professional and positive store atmosphere.

Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Standing/walking 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day
  • Hand use including single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • Ability to perform motions such as bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching
  • Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • Exposure to temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • May require use of ladders

Job Duties

  • Cut, prepare, and serve a variety of hot and cold foods including meats, cheeses, sandwiches, burritos, wraps, salad, and pizza
  • Sample products to customers
  • Stock hot and cold cases and displays with prepared foods from kitchen, walk-in preparation, and refrigerators
  • Check in-stock product dates to ensure freshness and rotate when necessary
  • Bail and consolidate recyclables
  • Assist Team Leader in organizing and displaying volume and seasonal items
  • Complete spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets as required
  • Assist with periodic inventory checks
  • Arrive to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed, and ready to work
  • Provide excellent customer service, address needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and model suggestive selling techniques
  • Maximize sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
  • Follow and comply with established procedures including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
  • Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
  • Ensure accuracy of signs and pricing
  • Immediately report safety hazards and violations
