The key responsibilities include preparing and serving a diverse range of hot and cold foods such as meats, cheeses, sandwiches, burritos, wraps, salads, and pizza. The role demands actively engaging with customers by sampling products and assisting in organizing displays and seasonal items. Critical tasks also involve monitoring product freshness by checking dates and rotating inventory as necessary. In addition, Team Members are responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards, completing required documentation such as spoilage and temperature worksheets, and supporting periodic inventory checks.
As a member of the Prepared Foods team, one must demonstrate strong communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively within a team, and a passion for natural foods aligned with Whole Foods Market's mission. The position requires physical stamina to perform tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds, standing and walking for extended periods, and the safe use of tools and equipment including knives and heavy machinery. Flexibility is necessary to work varying shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
The wage range for this position is $19.00 to $25.40 per hour, depending on experience. Job Requirements
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- standing and walking for 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day
- hand use including single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
- ability to perform bending, twisting, squatting and reaching motions
- exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
- exposure to temperatures around 90 degrees Fahrenheit
- ability to work in wet and dry conditions
- ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
- ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery

Job Duties
- Cuts, prepares, and serves a variety of hot and cold foods including meats, cheeses, sandwiches, burritos, wraps, salad, and pizza
- samples products to customers
- stocks hot and cold cases and displays with prepared foods from kitchen, walk-in preparation, and refrigerators
- checks in-stock product dates to ensure freshness and rotates when necessary
- bails and consolidates recyclables
- assists Team Leader in organizing and displaying volume and seasonal items
- completes spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets as required
