Job Description
Whole Foods Market is a leading retailer specializing in natural and organic foods, committed to promoting health and sustainability in communities across the globe. The company is renowned not just for its high-quality grocery offerings but also for its commitment to social and environmental stewardship. Whole Foods Market's overarching mission is to nourish people and the planet, demonstrated through initiatives such as funding school garden grants, expanding access to fresh and healthy foods for underserved populations, combating global poverty, and fostering community engagement. This positions Whole Foods Market not simply as a grocery store but as a transformative leader committed to setting industry standards and cultivating meaningful positive impacts in both local and global arenas.
This particular role of Prepared Foods Team Leader at Whole Foods Market involves comprehensive leadership responsibility over the store’s Prepared Foods department. As a Team Leader, you'll oversee all daily operations impacting profitability, expense control, labor management, merchandising, regulatory compliance, and special projects. You will be instrumental in driving a culture of excellence, accountability, and teamwork, ensuring that customers consistently receive courteous, efficient service while adhering to both company guidelines and regulatory standards. This leadership position requires a hands-on approach, from hiring and developing team members to setting and achieving sales targets. The role demands expertise in food safety, inventory management, and customer service, along with the ability to lead a motivated and high-performing team.
As a Prepared Foods Team Leader, you will hold accountability for hiring and managing team members—building and maintaining a positive and productive working environment that fosters respect, communication, and teamwork. You'll be responsible for tactical business decisions such as monitoring sales figures, labor costs, and inventory to optimize departmental success. A key aspect of the position is maintaining strong working relationships with department managers, vendors, and corporate partners to ensure a seamless flow of operations and continued innovation. You will play a vital role in advancing Whole Foods Market's standards of retail execution, competitor awareness, and industry trend knowledge.
The role also requires adeptness at mentoring and developing team members through coaching, performance evaluations, and fostering an engaging work environment to reduce turnover and enhance team cohesion. You'll ensure compliance with rigorous food safety and regulatory policies, promoting a safe and welcoming shopping ambiance. Strong decision-making and organizational skills are essential, along with proficiency in operational technology tools and software utilized by Whole Foods Market.
The wage range for this role is $25.10 to $42.50 per hour, commensurate with experience. Whole Foods Market supports its team members through the "Whole Benefits" program, offering a broad suite of benefits including store discount eligibility, paid time off, financial wellness resources, and health and wellness support programs. This role is suitable for candidates who are passionate about leadership within retail food service and are committed to Whole Foods Market’s mission of making a difference within communities while promoting sustainability and healthy living.
