The role described is focused on the preparation, counter service, sanitation, and stocking of products in the Prepared Foods department. Team Members in this position play a critical part in delivering excellent customer service to ensure a positive company image. Responsibilities include assisting with production across all Prepared Foods venues, properly labeling and rotating products, ensuring adherence to Whole Foods Market quality and preparation guidelines, and maintaining clean and organized walk-ins and freezers. Team Leaders in this role are expected to spend significant time on the floor, engage directly with customers, and support team members wherever needed.

The position requires a strong commitment to health and safety regulations and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency. Candidates should be prepared to perform opening, mid, and closing duties, maintain equipment cleanliness, document waste and spoilage accurately, and participate in required trainings and meetings. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Standing or walking for 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day
  • Hand use requiring single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • Bending, twisting, squatting and reaching motions
  • Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • Exposure to temperatures below 32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), and above 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • May require use of ladders
  • No prior retail experience required

Job Duties

  • Assist with production for all Prepared Foods venues
  • Ensure all prepared foods are properly labeled, dated, initialed, covered, and rotated
  • Ensure product meets Whole Foods Market guidelines for quality and preparation
  • Document waste and spoilage using appropriate forms
  • Ensure product production is performed using correct measuring devices and all recipes are followed
  • Help customers understand the difference between Whole Foods Market products and products at conventional stores
  • Ensure that walk-ins and freezers are kept clean and well-organized
  • Arrive to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
  • Work all scheduled shifts and attend required trainings and meetings
  • Provide excellent customer service, address needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and model suggestive selling techniques
  • Answer phones and pages promptly and courteously
  • Maximize sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
  • Follow and comply, or ensure compliance, with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
  • Maintain, or ensure maintenance of, a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
  • Maintain equipment in accordance with Whole Foods Market cleanliness and safety standards
  • Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
  • Ensure accuracy of signs and pricing
  • Immediately report safety hazards and violations
