Job Description

Whole Foods Market is a pioneering supermarket chain dedicated to providing high-quality natural and organic products while committed to the betterment of communities and the environment. Established with a mission to nourish people and the planet, Whole Foods Market goes beyond being a traditional grocery store by actively engaging in initiatives such as funding school garden grants, addressing food insecurity in underserved areas, and supporting poverty alleviation efforts in developing countries. The company is known for its dedication to setting the highest standards of excellence and innovation in the natural foods sector and the grocery industry as a whole. Careers at Whole Foods Market offer more than just employment; they provide opportunities for personal growth and meaningful change that impact local communities and global sustainability efforts.

This position focuses on roles within the Prepared Foods department where team members perform important functions related to food preparation, counter service, sanitation, and stocking of products. Team members are expected to uphold a positive company image by delivering courteous, friendly, and efficient service to both customers and fellow team members. This role requires adherence to standard operating procedures, health and safety regulations, and the company's core values. Team Leaders in this role are particularly engaged on the shop floor, interacting directly with customers and assisting wherever needed to maintain the high standards Whole Foods Market is known for. Responsibilities include assisting with production, ensuring proper labeling and rotation of prepared foods to maintain freshness and quality, documenting waste and spoilage, and guaranteeing compliance with recipe and measuring protocols.

Candidates in this position actively contribute to educating customers about the unique qualities of Whole Foods Market products compared to conventional grocery items, ensuring that the storage environments such as walk-in coolers and freezers are clean and organized, and fulfilling opening, mid-shift, and closing duties to maintain a smooth operation. Effective customer service is pivotal, including timely response to customer needs, suggestive selling techniques, and maintaining accurate product signage and pricing. Working collaboratively as part of a team, the candidate must be ready to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays, comply with all quality, safety, and sanitation standards, and demonstrate a strong work ethic in a fast-paced environment.

The role has physical demands typical of the food retail industry, such as the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand or walk for long periods, use various hand motions like grasping and manipulating tools, and work under varying temperature conditions. The position also requires using equipment such as knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and may involve the use of ladders. Whole Foods Market offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $17.50 to $25.40 based on experience and a comprehensive benefits package known as Whole Benefits. This package includes store discounts, paid time off, financial wellness programs, health and wellness support, and additional perks. Team members who successfully complete their initial 90-day period may be eligible for a wage increase.

Whole Foods Market is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all individuals without discrimination and hires based solely on qualifications and business needs. The company actively discourages applying through unauthorized third-party career sites to avoid misinformation and potential fraud, encouraging candidates to apply via official platforms to ensure legitimacy and accuracy.
