The position offered is an entry-level role in the Prepared Foods department within Whole Foods Market. This role includes performing a variety of essential duties related to food preparation, counter service, sanitation, and stocking. As a Team Member, you will be responsible for maintaining a high standard of food quality, safety, and presentation, ensuring products comply with store guidelines on labeling, rotation, and freshness. This role requires active engagement with customers, offering knowledgeable assistance about product differences, benefits, and preparation methods, while also supporting the team by maintaining a clean and organized work environment. Fundamental to the role is delivering outstanding customer service with courtesy, professionalism, and enthusiasm.

Team Members in this position must adhere to the store’s Standard Operating Procedures and align with Whole Foods Market’s core values and goals. Responsibilities include assisting with food production, managing inventory waste, following recipes precisely, and supporting promotional programs. A sense of teamwork is crucial, as Team Leaders are expected to lead by example, spending significant time on the sales floor and stepping in as needed to support colleagues. The work environment requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, frequently stand or walk up to 8 hours per day, and occasionally use equipment like knives, box cutters, and pallet jacks. Flexibility in scheduling, including working nights, weekends, and holidays, is essential to meet business needs.

Whole Foods Market offers competitive wages ranging from $15.00 to $24.40 hourly, commensurate with experience, alongside a comprehensive benefits package called Whole Benefits. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand or walk for 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday
  • Hand use including single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • Ability to bend, twist, squat, and reach
  • Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • Ability to work in temperatures below 32 degrees Fahrenheit, between 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit, and above 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • May require use of ladders

Job Duties

  • Assists with production for all Prepared Foods venues
  • Ensures all prepared foods are properly labeled, dated, initialed, covered, and rotated
  • Ensures product meets Whole Foods Market guidelines for quality and preparation
  • Documents waste and spoilage using appropriate forms
  • Ensures product production is performed using correct measuring devices and all recipes are followed
  • Helps customers understand the difference between Whole Foods Market products and conventional store products
  • Ensures that walk-ins and freezers are kept clean and well-organized
  • Arrives to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
  • Provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and models suggestive selling techniques
  • Answers phones and pages promptly and courteously
  • Maximizes sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
  • Follows and complies with established procedures including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
  • Performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
  • Ensures accuracy of signs and pricing
  • Immediately reports safety hazards and violations
