The role available is for a team member in the Prepared Foods department at Whole Foods Market. This position is critical to ensuring the store continues to deliver high-quality prepared foods that meet the company’s strict standards of freshness, safety, and customer satisfaction. The position is entry-level but requires a strong commitment to the company’s core values, excellent customer service, and adherence to safety and quality procedures. Team members in this role perform a variety of duties, including preparing and labeling food items, maintaining product quality, stocking and merchandising products, and ensuring cleanliness and organization of their work area and storage facilities. There is an emphasis on teamwork and engagement with customers, as well as flexibility to support other team members and store needs as necessary.

The position offers an hourly wage range of $16.00 to $25.40, commensurate with experience, and eligibility for Prime Whole Benefits which include health and wellness programs, store discounts, paid time off, and financial wellness resources for both full- and part-time employees. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand or walk for 6-8 hours during an 8-hour workday
  • Hand use including single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • Capability to perform bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching motions
  • Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • Ability to work in temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • Flexible schedule availability including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • May require use of ladders

Job Duties

  • Assist with production for all Prepared Foods venues
  • Ensure all prepared foods are properly labeled, dated, initialed, covered, and rotated
  • Ensure product meets WFM guidelines for quality and preparation
  • Document waste and spoilage using appropriate forms
  • Ensure product production is performed using correct measuring devices and all recipes are followed
  • Help customers understand the difference between WFM products and products at conventional stores
  • Ensure that walk-ins and freezers are kept clean and well-organized
  • Arrive to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
  • Work all scheduled shifts and attend required trainings and meetings
  • Provide excellent customer service, address needs of customers in a timely and effective manner
  • Model suggestive selling techniques
  • Answer phones and pages promptly and courteously
  • Maximize sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
  • Follow and comply, or ensure compliance, with established procedures including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
  • Maintain, or ensure maintenance of, a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
  • Maintain equipment in accordance with WFM cleanliness and safety standards
  • Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
  • Ensure accuracy of signs and pricing
  • Immediately report safety hazards and violations
