The role of a Prepared Foods Team Member at Whole Foods Market involves performing all functions related to the preparation, counter service, sanitation, and stocking of prepared food products. This position requires a hands-on approach, including assisting in production for all prepared foods venues, ensuring products meet quality guidelines, are properly labeled, dated, rotated, and covered, and that waste is documented accurately. The Team Member must maintain cleanliness and organization in storage areas such as walk-ins and freezers, manage inventory effectively, and comply with health and safety regulations. They engage actively with customers, providing courteous and efficient service, demonstrating product knowledge, and helping customers understand the differences of Whole Foods Market’s products compared to conventional grocery stores. A significant part of the role involves teamwork, support for store initiatives and programs, and contributing toward achieving the department’s sales goals through proper merchandising and suggestive selling. This role is physically demanding and sets high standards for work ethic, time management, and communication skills. Job Requirements
- must be able to lift 50 pounds
- standing/walking 6-8 hours per 8-hour work day
- hand use includes single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
- work requires bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching
- exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
- exposure to temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit
- ability to work in wet and dry conditions
- ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
- ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
- may require use of ladders

Job Duties
- assists with production for all prepared foods venues
- ensures all prepared foods are properly labeled, dated, initialed, covered, and rotated
- ensures product meets whole foods market guidelines for quality and preparation
- documents waste and spoilage using appropriate forms
- ensures product production is performed using correct measuring devices and all recipes are followed
- helps customers understand the difference between whole foods market products and products at conventional stores
- ensures that walk-ins and freezers are kept clean and well-organized
