Job Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • ability to stand and walk 6-8 hours during an 8-hour shift
  • ability to perform hand use activities such as single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling
  • ability to bend, twist, squat, and reach
  • willingness to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • may require use of ladders
  • ability to adhere to WFM quality and safety standards
  • must be able to arrive to work station on time and properly groomed
  • ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with team members and customers
  • ability to comply with health and sanitation regulations
  • no prior retail experience required

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • strong communication skills
  • ability to follow directions and procedures
  • customer service experience preferred but not required
  • ability to work as part of a team
  • passion for natural foods and the mission of Whole Foods Market
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • understanding of health and safety regulations
  • previous experience in food preparation or retail is a plus but not required
  • ability to use tools and equipment safely including knives and pallet jacks
  • good organizational and time management skills

Job Duties

  • Assists with production for all Prepared Foods venues
  • ensures all prepared foods are properly labeled, dated, initialed, covered, and rotated
  • ensures product meets Whole Foods Market guidelines for quality and preparation
  • documents waste and spoilage using appropriate forms
  • ensures product production is performed using correct measuring devices and all recipes are followed
  • helps customers understand the difference between Whole Foods Market products and products at conventional stores
  • ensures that walk-ins and freezers are kept clean and well-organized
  • arrives to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
  • works all scheduled shifts and attends required trainings and meetings
  • provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and models suggestive selling techniques
  • answers phones and pages promptly and courteously
  • maximizes sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
  • follows and complies with established procedures including health and sanitation and safe work practices
  • maintains a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
  • performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
  • ensures accuracy of signs and pricing
  • immediately reports safety hazards and violations
