The Team Member in this role actively participates in regional programs for purchasing and promotions while maintaining high standards of inventory control and product display. Job Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- minimum 1 year of buying or merchandising experience
- ability to lift 50 pounds
- able to stand or walk 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday
- able to perform hand use motions including grasping, pushing, and pulling
- capable of bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching
- exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
- ability to work in temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit
- able to work in wet and dry conditions
- flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
- ability to use tools like knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
- may require use of ladders
- must comply with company policies and safety procedures
Job Qualifications
- Extensive product knowledge including production, distribution, seasonal availability, and trends
- ability to create and negotiate price bids
- familiarity or willingness to learn about products and nutritional information
- working knowledge of Prepared Foods merchandising expectations
- complete understanding of WFM margin program and profitability
- ability to educate team on product knowledge
- strong basic math skills
- proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and ordering systems
- strong communication skills and team collaboration

Job Duties
- Purchases and replenishes food through proper buying procedures
- monitors and acts upon open PO reports accurately and timely
- controls spoilage and shrink and achieves turn goals
- completes spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets
- assists with counter service and cooks as needed
- communicates with Kitchen Manager, Chef, and Team Leader on ordering needs and issues
- maintains positive relationships with vendors
- works with Team Leader to cost recipes
- oversees customer special order procedure
- supports leadership in conducting inventories
- maintains financial profitability by meeting purchasing and sales targets
- arrives to work station on time, groomed and ready to work
- provides excellent customer service and models suggestive selling techniques
- maximizes sales potential through proper prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising
- complies with Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
- maintains a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
- performs opening, mid, and closing duties and ensures accuracy of signs and pricing
- immediately reports safety hazards and violations
