The Line Cook role at Giant Eagle is a critical position within the restaurant team, ensuring each guest receives their food order promptly, accurately, and with memorable service. Line Cooks at Giant Eagle need to understand and demonstrate various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and kitchen procedures. This role prioritizes safety for team members, guests, and food products, adhering strictly to food safety guidelines and store policies. The responsibilities also include station setup, stocking supplies, prepping ingredients like chopping vegetables and cutting meats, and cooperating with restaurant staff to synchronize meal preparation. The cook must follow the Executive Chef's directives, maintain kitchen cleanliness, package or dispose of leftovers properly, and consistently comply with portion sizes, cooking standards, and operational rules.

This is an hourly position with a pay rate starting at $18.00 per hour. Job Duties

  • Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
  • Understand and demonstrate various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
  • Maintain safety as the top priority in all aspects of your work, for our Team Members, guests, and products
  • Provide unparalleled guest service, constantly striving to delight and surprise our guests, vendors, and stakeholders
  • Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies
  • Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, cutting meat or preparing sauces)
  • Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the Restaurant Staff
  • Answer, report and follow Executive Chef's instructions
  • Clean up kitchen and package or discard leftover food
  • Know and consistently comply y with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures
