This career opportunity is for the role of a Kitchen Steward, a vital position that supports the overall operation and cleanliness of the kitchen area. The role involves performing duties related to dishwashing and maintaining general kitchen sanitation, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and food safety are upheld. Kitchen Stewards are responsible for washing, rinsing, and sanitizing dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and other kitchen tools, as well as assisting with kitchen deliveries and proper storage of products.
In addition to performing cleaning tasks, the Kitchen Steward plays an important role in delivering excellent customer service and supporting teamwork within the store environment. This position requires punctuality, adherence to company grooming standards, participation in trainings and meetings, and compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations. The role is ideal for individuals who have a strong work ethic, a passion for cleanliness, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
The position offers a wage range of $15.00 to $24.40 per hour, depending on experience, and includes access to Whole Foods Market’s comprehensive "Whole Benefits" program. This program provides a wide array of perks for both full-time and part-time Team Members, including store discounts, paid time off, financial wellness programs, and health and wellness support. New hires who complete a successful 90-day employment period in an eligible role may also be considered for a base rate increase.

Job Requirements
- No prior retail experience required
- ability to lift 50 pounds
- able to stand or walk for 6-8 hours during an 8-hour shift
- hand use including grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling
- able to perform motions such as bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching
- exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
- ability to work in wet and dry conditions
- ability to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
- ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
- may require use of ladders

Job Duties
- Washes, rinses, and sanitizes dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and small wares
- maintains cleanliness of floors, mats, drains, walls, and shelves in the kitchen area
- assists with kitchen deliveries including proper storage, organization, and rotation of products
- arrives to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
- works all scheduled shifts and attends required trainings and meetings
- provides excellent customer service and addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner
- maximizes sales potential through effective prep, storage, rotation, stocking, and merchandising of product
- follows and complies with established procedures including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
- maintains a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
- performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
- immediately reports safety hazards and violations
- performs other duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership
