The role offered is an entry-level kitchen team member position focused on dishwashing and maintaining the overall cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen area. This position is integral to supporting the smooth operations of the kitchen by ensuring all dishware, utensils, and cookware are clean, sanitized, and properly maintained according to stringent health and safety standards. The team member will also assist with receiving and organizing kitchen deliveries, maintaining proper storage and rotation of products, and upholding compliance with food safety regulations and Whole Foods Market’s quality goals. This position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and involves standing or walking for about 6 to 8 hours during an 8-hour shift. Physical activities include bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching, with exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals and working conditions that may reach temperatures of up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays is necessary, along with the capability to use various tools and equipment such as knives, electric pallet jacks, and box cutters. Job Duties
- Washes, rinses, and sanitizes dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and small wares
- maintains cleanliness of floors, mats, drains, walls, and shelves in the kitchen area
- assists with kitchen deliveries including proper storage, organization, and rotation of products
- arrives to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
- provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and models suggestive selling techniques
- maximizes sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
- follows and complies, or ensures compliance, with established procedures including health and sanitation and safe work practices
- maintains a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
- performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
- reports safety hazards and violations immediately
