The role of Prepared Foods Team Leader is vital in ensuring the smooth operation and high-performance of the Prepared Foods department, which includes the handling and presentation of prepared foods, coffee, and juice displays. This position requires assisting with scheduling, supervising the team members, and maintaining the overall flow of the department. The team leader supports both the Prepared Foods Team Leader and Associate Team Leader by enforcing store procedures and promoting a positive customer service culture. The position demands a deep knowledge of food safety and regulatory requirements, as well as strong leadership qualities to foster teamwork, respect, and morale among team members. The team leader ensures all products are well-stocked, properly rotated, and visually appealing. Responsibilities also include opening and closing the department, managing breaks, and communicating team concerns to higher leadership. The salary range for this hourly position is between $17.50 and $30.20, adjusted according to experience. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • standing/walking 6-8 hours during an 8-hour work day
  • hand use includes single grasping fine manipulation pushing and pulling
  • work requires bending twisting squatting and reaching motions
  • exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • exposure to temperatures less than 32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), and greater than 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • ability to work a flexible schedule including nights weekends and holidays as needed
  • ability to use tools and equipment including knives box cutters electric pallet jacks and other heavy machinery
  • may require use of ladders

Job Qualifications

  • 12+ months retail experience
  • extensive knowledge of Prepared Foods team procedures and policies
  • strong demonstrated organizational and time management skills
  • excellent interpersonal motivational team building and customer relationship skills
  • capable of teaching others in a positive and constructive manner
  • product knowledge
  • advanced knowledge of regulatory and safety policies and procedures
  • proficient mathematical skills for assessing financial performance monitoring profitability and managing inventory
  • demonstrated decision-making ability leadership skills and ability to prioritize and delegate
  • proficiency with email Microsoft Office and operations-related applications

Job Duties

  • Supervises and delegates tasks to Prepared Foods Team Members
  • works with Prepared Foods Trainer to train Team Members in a manner that builds and sustains a high-performance team and minimizes turnover
  • assists in training of new Team Members utilizing learning checklists and training materials
  • keeps all cases and shelves clean well-stocked and properly rotated
  • opens and closes department according to established procedures
  • ensures all necessary breaks are given
  • communicates team concerns to the Team Leader and Associate Team Leader
  • sets and achieves the highest standards of retail execution
  • fosters and encourages a positive environment of outstanding teamwork mutual respect and exceptional morale
  • maintains awareness of customer flows and needs and directs Team Members as necessary to satisfy and delight customers
  • responds promptly to customer needs and questions
  • selects trains develops mentors motivates and counsels Team Members in a manner that sustains a high-performance team and minimizes turnover
  • provides timely thorough and thoughtful performance evaluations
