The Prepared Foods Team Supervisor role at Whole Foods Market plays a crucial part in supporting the day-to-day operations of the Prepared Foods department. This position focuses on assisting with scheduling, supervision, and maintaining high-quality prepared foods, coffee, and juice displays to ensure an excellent retail experience for customers. The team supervisor works collaboratively with the Prepared Foods Team Leader and Associate Team Leader to ensure efficient operations, uphold company values, and adhere to health and safety regulations, including food safety requirements. This is a hands-on leadership role that demands excellent organizational, motivational, and interpersonal skills to build and sustain a high-performance team while minimizing turnover. Responsibilities include delegating tasks, training new and existing team members, maintaining clean and stocked displays, opening and closing the department, monitoring customer flow, and addressing team or customer concerns effectively.

This role requires a strong understanding of prepared foods procedures, product knowledge, and regulatory policies. Effective communication, leadership, and decision-making skills are essential as the supervisor is also responsible for performance evaluations, mentoring, and fostering a positive work environment. Candidates must be capable of managing the physical demands of the job, including lifting up to 50 pounds and working flexible schedules that include nights, weekends, and holidays. The wage range for this hourly position is between $17.50 and $30.20, depending on experience. Job Requirements

  • 12+ months retail experience
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand and walk for 6-8 hours during an 8-hour workday
  • Ability to use hands for grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling
  • Ability to bend, twist, squat, and reach
  • Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals
  • Ability to work in 90 degrees Fahrenheit temperature
  • Ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to use tools and equipment like knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other machinery
  • May require use of ladders

Job Duties

  • Supervises and delegates tasks to Prepared Foods team members
  • Works with Prepared Foods Trainer to train team members in a way that builds and sustains high-performance and minimizes turnover
  • Assists in training new team members using training materials and checklists
  • Keeps all cases and shelves clean, well-stocked, and properly rotated
  • Opens and closes the department according to procedures
  • Ensures all necessary breaks are given
  • Communicates team concerns to Team Leader and Associate Team Leader
  • Sets and achieves the highest standards of retail execution
  • Fosters a positive environment of teamwork, mutual respect, and high morale
  • Maintains awareness of customer needs and directs team members accordingly
  • Selects, trains, develops, mentors, motivates, and counsels team members
  • Provides timely and thorough performance evaluations
  • Models Whole Foods Market vision and goals consistently
