The role of Prepared Foods Team Supervisor at Whole Foods Market is a dynamic and essential position within the retail environment. This role supports the Prepared Foods Team Leader and Associate Team Leaders by assisting with the scheduling, supervision, and operational flow of the department. Key responsibilities include overseeing the presentation and maintenance of prepared foods, coffee, and juice displays, ensuring they are compelling and meet the company’s high standards. As a supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in training new Team Members, delegating daily tasks, and fostering a positive and productive team atmosphere. The position requires a proactive leader who can motivate team members, manage time effectively, and maintain adherence to Whole Foods Market’s core values and health and safety regulations, including food safety standards.

The job offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $20.00 to $30.20, commensurate with experience. The candidate must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and must meet physical demands such as lifting up to 50 pounds and standing or walking for extended periods during an 8-hour shift.

Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand and walk 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day
  • Hand use for single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • Ability to bend, twist, squat and reach
  • Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • Ability to work in temperatures below freezing, refrigerator temperatures, and above 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • May require use of ladders

Job Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of Prepared Foods team procedures and policies
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, motivational, team building, and customer relationship skills
  • Capable of teaching others in a positive and constructive manner
  • Product knowledge
  • Advanced knowledge of regulatory and safety policies and procedures
  • Proficient mathematical skills for assessing financial performance, monitoring profitability, and managing inventory
  • Demonstrated decision-making ability, leadership skills, and ability to prioritize and delegate
  • Proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, and operations-related applications
  • 12+ months retail experience

Job Duties

  • Supervises and delegates tasks to Prepared Foods Team Members
  • Works with Prepared Foods Trainer to train Team Members in a manner that builds and sustains a high-performance team and minimizes turnover
  • Assists in training of new Team Members, utilizing learning checklists and training materials
  • Keeps all cases and shelves clean, well-stocked and properly rotated
  • Opens and closes department according to established procedures
  • Ensures all necessary breaks are given
  • Communicates team concerns to the Team Leader and Associate Team Leader
  • Sets and achieves the highest standards of retail execution
  • Fosters and encourages a positive environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale
  • Maintains awareness of customer flows and needs and directs Team Members as necessary to satisfy and delight customers
  • Provides timely, thorough, and thoughtful performance evaluations
  • Selects, trains, develops, mentors, motivates, and counsels Team Members
  • Consistently communicates and models WFM vision and goals
