The role at Whole Foods Market focuses on food preparation and maintenance within the cold case, fresh pack, salad, and hot bars. This position is integral to ensuring the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and sanitation. Candidates will perform a variety of duties including preparing food items according to specific recipes and production sheets to guarantee consistency and quality. Additionally, they will manage labeling, dating, covering, quality monitoring, freshness, and proper rotation of food items to maintain safety and appeal. The work environment requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand or walk for extended periods, and perform motions such as bending, twisting, and reaching. Flexibility to work various shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays is necessary. Job Requirements

  • 6-12 months retail experience
  • must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • standing or walking 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day
  • hand use including single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • ability to perform motions such as bending, twisting, squatting and reaching
  • exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • exposure to temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • may require use of ladders

Job Duties

  • prepares food items for the cold case, fresh pack, salad, and hot bars according to production sheets
  • prepares food items according to recipe to ensure quality and consistency
  • ensures that all prepared items are labeled, dated, covered, monitored for quality and freshness, and rotated
  • monitors food levels and replenishes in a timely manner
  • provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and models suggestive selling techniques
  • follows and complies, or ensures compliance, with established procedures including weights and measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
  • maintains a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment and maintains equipment in accordance with cleanliness and safety standards
  • performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned and ensures accuracy of signs and pricing
