The role at hand involves performing all functions related to proper food preparation and maintenance within various food service areas such as the cold case, fresh pack, salad, and hot bars. This position entails ensuring optimal food quality, presentation, stock replenishment, and sanitation. The individual will be responsible for following production sheets, adhering strictly to recipes, and monitoring food to maintain quality, freshness, and safety according to Whole Foods Market standards and regulatory health requirements. Beyond these technical duties, the role emphasizes delivering exemplary customer service, addressing customer needs promptly, and actively supporting store programs and initiatives that align with Whole Foods’ values. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Standing/walking 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday
  • Hand use includes single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • Work requires bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching
  • Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • Exposure to temperatures below 32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), between 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), and above 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to use tools and equipment such as knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • May require use of ladders

Job Duties

  • Prepares food items for the cold case, fresh pack, salad, and hot bars according to production sheets
  • Prepares food items according to recipe to ensure quality and consistency
  • Ensures that all prepared items are labeled, dated, covered, monitored for quality and freshness, and rotated
  • Monitors food levels and replenishes in a timely manner
  • Provides excellent customer service and addresses needs of customers promptly
  • Maximizes sales potential through proper prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment including equipment and storage areas
