The position of Cook at Whole Foods Market offers an exciting opportunity to work primarily in the kitchen preparing delicious and high-quality food items for customers. This role also entails cross-training in various store departments, allowing the cook to gain product knowledge, hone customer service skills, and maintain store standards. The cook ensures that food preparation follows recipe standards exactly, maintaining quality and consistency in every product served. This includes labeling, dating, and rotating food items appropriately to uphold safety and freshness. The cook is responsible for documenting waste and spoilage and meeting all spoilage targets specified by the company. Additionally, this role demands maintaining cleanliness and organization in storage areas such as walk-ins and freezers, as well as supporting overall store upkeep. The cook plays an integral role in supporting the retail environment by stocking shelves, managing product displays, and ensuring that the store continually meets the highest retail standards. Job Requirements

  • Prior retail, restaurant or hospitality experience preferred
  • Ability to perform physical job requirements with or without reasonable accommodation

Job Duties

  • Provide exceptional customer service and address needs of customers in a timely and effective manner
  • Perform all duties related to food preparation and production, execute recipe production and specific venue product flow and provide great finished products for customers while ensuring consistency and quality of food
  • Ensure all prepared items are labeled, dated, initialed, covered, and rotated
  • Document waste and spoilage using appropriate forms and meet all spoilage targets
  • Ensure that production is done using correct measuring devices and all recipes are followed
  • Ensure that walk-ins and freezers are kept clean and organized
  • Work in multiple areas throughout the store including cashiering
  • Ensure that all shelves and displays are properly stocked and front facing, rotate products and remove out-of-date products
  • Maintain and support proper Electronic Shelf Label signage throughout the store
  • Be aware of new products and their placement
  • Ensure the highest retail standards are met
  • Follow all 365 Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Help with setup or closing of department as outlined by SOP and training materials
  • Participate in fiscal period and quarter end inventories
  • Communicate all pertinent information to leadership
  • Establish and maintain collaborative and productive relationships with store leadership, team leaders, floor leads, fellow team members, support partners, customers and vendors
  • Stay informed on company and store level information from leadership
  • Model 365 by Whole Foods Market vision and goals
  • Complete all trainings and focus on increasing product knowledge
  • Maintain a positive work environment
  • Use courteous and proper phone etiquette
  • Follow and comply with all health and sanitation procedures and safe work practices
