The role available is that of a Food Service Team Member who performs all functions related to food preparation and maintenance of various food stations including the cold case, fresh pack, salad bar, and hot bars. The position involves adhering strictly to food quality, safety, and presentation standards. Responsibilities include preparing food according to established recipes and production sheets, monitoring food freshness and ensuring correct labeling and rotation of products, replenishing stock on time, and maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of the work area according to Whole Foods Market standards. This role also includes customer interaction responsibilities, requiring friendly and efficient service to ensure a positive shopping experience.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand or walk for 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday
  • Ability to use single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling hand motions
  • Ability to bend, twist, squat, and reach
  • Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • Ability to work in temperatures less than 32 degrees Fahrenheit, between 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit, and over 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to use tools and equipment such as knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • May require use of ladders

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Prepares food items for the cold case, fresh pack, salad, and hot bars according to production sheets
  • Prepares food items according to recipe to ensure quality and consistency
  • Ensures that all prepared items are labeled, dated, covered, monitored for quality and freshness, and rotated
  • Monitors food levels and replenishes in a timely manner
  • Arrives to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work
  • Provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and models suggestive selling techniques
  • Maximizes sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
  • Follows and complies with established procedures including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
  • Performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
  • Reports safety hazards and violations immediately
  • Performs other duties as assigned by leadership
