The role at Whole Foods Market involves performing all functions related to the preparation and maintenance of the cold case, fresh pack, salad, and hot bars. The position requires ensuring food quality and presentation while maintaining adherence to strict food safety regulations and store policies. Team members in this role are responsible for following detailed recipes and production sheets to deliver consistently high-quality food items, maintaining proper labeling, dating, and storage practices, and rotating stock appropriately. Additionally, the role entails providing exceptional customer service, addressing customer needs promptly, and helping maximize sales potential through effective merchandising and suggestive selling techniques.

Team members are also expected to uphold store cleanliness and sanitation standards, maintain equipment in safe and operational condition, and comply with all health and safety regulations including Weights and Measures. The role requires flexibility, with shifts that may include nights, weekends, and holidays, and involves physical demands such as lifting up to 50 pounds, standing and walking for extended periods, and working in varying temperature conditions including freezers and refrigerated spaces. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 6-12 months retail experience
  • ability to lift 50 pounds
  • ability to stand and walk 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day
  • ability to perform hand use motions including single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling
  • ability to bend, twist, squat, and reach
  • ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • ability to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • ability to use tools and equipment such as knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • may require use of ladders
  • adherence to health and sanitation regulations

Job Duties

  • Prepares food items for the cold case, fresh pack, salad, and hot bars according to production sheets
  • prepares food items according to recipe to ensure quality and consistency
  • ensures that all prepared items are labeled, dated, covered, monitored for quality and freshness, and rotated
  • monitors food levels and replenishes in a timely manner
  • provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and models suggestive selling techniques
  • maintains, or ensures maintenance of, a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment
  • performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned
  • reports safety hazards and violations immediately
  • follows and complies with established procedures including health and sanitation
  • ensures accuracy of signs and pricing
  • maximizes sales potential through effective prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product
