The role of the Team Leader Assistant at Whole Foods Market is a dynamic and multifaceted position focused on supporting daily store operations. This role involves collaboration with Team Leaders to ensure profitability, manage expenses, oversee buying and merchandising activities, control labor, and assure regulatory compliance. Key responsibilities include managing vendor relationships, analyzing sales reports, developing creative store layouts, and stepping in as the person in charge when necessary. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 18 months of retail team member experience
- Minimum of 6 months supervisory experience
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to stand and walk for 6-8 hours per day
- Ability to use hand tools including knives and box cutters
- Capacity to perform bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching motions
- Ability to work in cold, hot, wet, and dry environments
- Flexible schedule availability including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Proficiency in email and Microsoft Office applications
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 18+ months retail Team Member experience
- 6+ months supervisory experience
- Advanced product knowledge
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and operations-related applications
- Strong leadership and decision-making abilities
- Excellent interpersonal and team building skills
- Knowledge of regulatory and safety policies and procedures
- Mathematical skills for financial assessment and inventory management
Job Duties
- Develops and maintains creative store layout and product merchandising
- Works with Team Leader to achieve sales, purchasing, and labor targets
- Assists Team Leader in analysis of sales, reports and labor
- Demonstrates advanced product knowledge and maintains awareness of new products
- Maintains good vendor relationships and ensures proper vendor paperwork submission
- Works with Team Leader to resolve team concerns or issues
- Functions as point person and departmental person in charge in absence of Team Leader
- Sets and achieves the highest standards of retail execution
- Fosters and encourages a positive environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale
- Communicates and models WFM vision and goals
- Maintains customer flow awareness and directs Team Members to satisfy customers
- Selects, trains, develops, mentors, motivates, and counsels Team Members
- Provides timely, thorough, and thoughtful performance evaluations
