The position available is a leadership role that supports the Team Leader in managing daily retail operations with a focus on profitability, expense control, purchasing, labor management, regulatory compliance, and special projects. This role requires a strong understanding of the retail environment and a passion for upholding Whole Foods Market’s high standards of customer service and operational excellence.

In this role, you will assist the Team Leader in analyzing sales and labor reports, maintaining vendor relationships, and ensuring a creative and effective store layout and merchandise presentation. You will also be responsible for fostering a positive work environment by promoting teamwork, respect, and morale among Team Members. Acting as a point person in the Team Leader’s absence, you will demonstrate advanced product knowledge and help train, mentor, and motivate team members to achieve both individual and organizational goals.

Success in this role requires a high-energy individual with excellent interpersonal skills, a growth mindset, and the ability to prioritize and delegate effectively. You will need proficiency in Microsoft Office, email communication, and various operational software to manage financial performance and inventory efficiently. The physical demands of the position include standing and walking for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working with tools such as knives and pallet jacks. A flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays is also required.

The position is hourly, with a wage range of $20.05 to $35.00 depending on experience. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • standing/walking 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day
  • ability to use hands for grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • ability to perform motions such as bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching
  • exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • ability to work in temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • availability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • ability to use tools and equipment such as knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery
  • may require use of ladders

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 18+ months retail Team Member experience
  • 6+ months of supervisory experience
  • excellent interpersonal and motivational skills
  • advanced product knowledge
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office and email
  • ability to teach and mentor others
  • strong decision-making and leadership skills
  • knowledge of regulatory and safety policies and procedures
  • proficient mathematical skills for financial and inventory management

Job Duties

  • Develops and maintains creative store layout and product merchandising
  • works with Team Leader to achieve sales, purchasing, and labor targets
  • assists Team Leader in analysis of sales, reports and labor
  • demonstrates advanced product knowledge and develops/maintains awareness of new products
  • maintains good vendor relationships, develops new vendor relations, and ensures all paperwork is properly submitted for vendor processing
  • works with Team Leader to resolve team concerns or issues
  • functions as point person and departmental person in charge in absence of Team Leader
  • sets and achieves the highest standards of retail execution
  • fosters and encourages a positive environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale
  • consistently communicates and models Whole Foods Market vision and goals
  • maintains awareness of customer flows and needs and directs Team Members as necessary to satisfy and delight customers
  • selects, trains, develops, mentors, motivates, and counsels Team Members in a manner that sustains a high-performance team and minimizes turnover
  • provides timely, thorough, and thoughtful performance evaluations
