Work in a unique farm-to-plate culinary environment
Job Description
We are an established on-site catering company operating primarily within the greater Portland area. Our business is based out of a commercial kitchen located in Northeast Portland, and we specialize in collaborating with farms and wineries to create exceptional farm-to-plate dining experiences. Our event portfolio is vibrant and seasonal, concentrating heavily on outdoor events during the summer and fall seasons. These events include exclusive farm-to-plate dinner series and high-end wine tastings, which showcase the fresh, locally sourced ingredients and craft wines that our partners are known for. As a small, family-owned business, we pride ourselves on a close-knit team culture, emphasizing collaboration, creativity, and dedication to quality. We welcome you to explore our Instagram profile to get an immersive glimpse of the culinary experiences and events we bring to life.
About the Position
We are currently seeking a part-time prep/event cook to join our dynamic team. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about culinary arts to gain diverse experience by working on a variety of unique menus tailored to each event. The candidate will assist with event preparation, kitchen production, and provide essential support at on-site events. Working closely with the Chef, who brings 15 years of fine dining restaurant experience, this position offers valuable mentorship and skill development in professional cookery. The role is seasonal, coinciding with our busy period from summer through mid-December, but there is potential for a longer-term, more permanent position for the right candidate who demonstrates dedication and aligns with our team values.
This role requires someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, is motivated by a drive to learn, and is capable of juggling multiple tasks efficiently. Besides strong culinary skills, the ideal candidate is reliable, punctual, and embraces teamwork while also being confident working independently. The work schedule is approximately three days per week, typically Thursday through Saturday, with Saturday availability a must. Compensation is competitive, ranging from $20 to $23 per hour, depending on experience, reflecting our commitment to fairly rewarding skill and dedication. Joining our team means becoming part of a supportive and passionate culinary community where attention to detail and high standards are the norm.
