As a Prep Cook, you will be an essential part of the food production team responsible for preparing ingredients, supporting cooks, and maintaining a clean and organized workstation. This role demands physical stamina, attention to detail, and a commitment to following food safety protocols. It's a hands-on job where you will be actively engaged throughout the shift, contributing to the preparation of quality meals efficiently and safely.
The Prep Cook role is perfect for individuals who thrive in fast-paced settings and enjoy teamwork. Inventory management also plays a role in this position, as you'll help receive, stock, and rotate inventory following the FIFO (First-In, First-Out) practice to ensure freshness and quality of ingredients. Maintaining workplace cleanliness and adhering to safety procedures are key responsibilities to ensure a safe and efficient kitchen operation.
Physical requirements include the ability to stand and walk for extended periods, frequently lift up to 50 pounds, and perform repetitive tasks involving bending, stooping, and reaching. This physically active role is suited for candidates who are comfortable in a fast-paced environment and dependable enough to manage multiple tasks as they arise.
Preferred qualifications for this role include previous experience in kitchen or food production settings, basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices, and certifications such as a Food Handler Permit or ServSafe Certification. However, Express Employment is open to training motivated individuals who demonstrate a strong work ethic and can work both independently and as part of a supportive team.
