The role of Prep Cook at Tower Deli & Grill is vital to the smooth operation of the kitchen. The position is part-time, offering flexibility with AM and PM shifts available Monday through Saturday, including some holidays. The pay rate is $15 per hour, reflecting the importance and skill involved in the role. Prep Cooks are responsible for preparing a variety of ingredients by slicing deli meats and cheeses, washing and chopping produce, and portioning items to ensure the kitchen runs efficiently and is well-stocked. Maintaining cleanliness and organization in the prep area is a key part of the job, alongside assisting with other kitchen tasks such as stocking stations and restocking items during service periods. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working behind the scenes and have a keen eye for detail. Additionally, the position requires the employee to be dependable, focused, and able to communicate effectively with cooks and supervisors. Candidates should also be willing to obtain a food handler's permit if they do not already have one and must be at least 16 years old. Job Requirements

  • Must have or be willing to obtain a food handler’s permit
  • Must pass a background check
  • Must be 16 years of age
  • Able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to work at least 3 shifts a week, AM or PM, weekend or holiday availability

Job Qualifications

  • Some kitchen or food service experience required
  • Comfortable using basic kitchen tools, including knives and slicers
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness
  • Able to follow directions and work well as part of a team
  • Dependable and able to stay focused during repetitive tasks
  • Able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must have or be willing to obtain a food handler’s permit
  • Must pass a background check
  • Must be 16 years of age

Job Duties

  • Slice deli meats and cheese using commercial slicers
  • Wash, chop, and portion vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients
  • Prepare and label ingredients for use on the line
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary prep area
  • Assist with basic kitchen tasks as needed, including stocking stations and restocking prep items during service
  • Follow all food safety and handling procedures
  • Work efficiently and consistently to keep up with prep needs
  • Communicate with cooks and supervisors to stay on top of daily prep tasks
  • Other duties as assigned
