The role of Prep Cook at The Beast is a vital part of the culinary team within AREA15's vibrant entertainment ecosystem. The Prep Cook is responsible for the preparation of ingredients and stations used in the cooking process for all menu items served at The Beast restaurant, ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently. This position demands a candidate with experience in fast-paced kitchen settings, capable of demonstrating culinary skills with a high level of attention to detail and accountability. Reporting directly to the Sous Chef, the Prep Cook assists in setting up and sanitizing workstations, measuring ingredients, preparing simple dishes, and ensuring all food items are adequately stored and accessible. A successful Prep Cook must possess a working knowledge of various cooking techniques including grilling, sautéing, frying, baking, and plating, and exhibit strong teamwork and time management skills in a high-volume environment. Job Requirements
- Applicants must be 18 years of age or older
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
- 1+ year’s culinary experience in a high-volume restaurant or catering kitchen
- Manual dexterity to operate cooking tools such as knives
- Southern Nevada Health District Food Handlers Certified
- Be able to stand and work on your feet for extended periods of time
- Must be able to maintain calm and professional demeanor in a high-stress and fast-paced environment
- Must be able to work holidays, weekends, irregular hours, and varied shifts
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work in all weather conditions including extreme heat, sun exposure, wind, rain, extreme cold
- Ability to understand, speak, read, and write the English language
Job Qualifications
- Applicants must be 18 years of age or older
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
- Comfortable working in a creative, entrepreneurial start-up environment
- 1+ year’s culinary experience in a high-volume restaurant or catering kitchen
- Manual dexterity to operate cooking tools such as knives
- Excellent time management skills with ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize under pressure
- Southern Nevada Health District Food Handlers Certified
- Ability to stand and work on feet for extended periods
- Maintain calm and professional demeanor in high-stress environments
- Ability to work holidays, weekends, irregular hours, and varied shifts

- Computer skills in Microsoft applications
- Availability for varied shifts

Job Duties
- Set up and sanitize workstations
- Follow prep lists created by chefs
- Measure ingredients and seasonings, and prepare cooking ingredients such as soup stock
- Prepare simple dishes, such as salads or desserts
- Demonstrate knowledge of basic cooking techniques including grilling, sauté, griddle, fryer, baking, and broiling
- Ensure all food items are properly stored and easily accessible
- Execute opening and closing duties
